Dental Hygienists in the District of Columbia need a Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification at the Healthcare Provider level. Required skills include; Adult, child and infant CPR, AED, and use of a bag-valve-mask. Some Dental Hygienists may also need a First Aid course as well, but this is determined by the employer.
Dental Hygienists in the District of Columbia are required to do the Basic Life Support level of CPR certification for Healthcare Providers that usually includes a practical skills evaluation through a classroom or blended training process. 100% online CPR will only be an option upon the discretion of the employer or institution and is not always accepted by the state licensing department or for continuing education credits.

The DC Board of Dentistry requires Healthcare Provider level CPR certification with practical skills component that is accepted by the Board, AGD/PACE, or ADA/CERP approved.
CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS4206 – DentistryAn applicant for renewal of a license shall submit proof pursuant to § 4206.9 of having completed twenty-five (25) hours of credit, which shall include current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification for health care providers (“CPR certification”) and four (4) hours of infection control in approved continuing education programs within the two-year (2) period preceding the date the license expires.4306 – Dental HygieneAn applicant for renewal of a license shall submit proof pursuant to § 4306.7 of having completed fifteen (15) hours of approved continuing education credit, which shall include current CPR certification for healthcare providers at the basic level and two (2) hours of infection control training, obtained within the two (2) year period preceding the date the license expires.
AGD requires to maintain CPR for Healthcare Providers that includes practical skills evaluation component that is approved through the AGD Program Approval for Continuing Education (PACE) program. AGD PACE accredited organizations listed here.
