Description

This course updates the knowledge of nurses and other health care professionals about infection control and prevention. In addition, the course describes the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) (HIV/AIDS), tuberculosis (TB), multidrug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB), and hepatitis A, B, and C.

Objectives

Upon completion of the course, you will be able to do the following:

  • Identify basic principles of infection control and prevention.
  • Describe the process for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) (HIV/AIDS).
  • Describe the process for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with tuberculosis (TB) and multidrug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB).
  • Describe the process for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with hepatitis A (HAV), hepatitis B (HBV), and hepatitis C (HCV).

Criteria for successful completion

Complete the course post exam (CE Test) with a score of 80% or greater. Complete all fields of the course evaluation form. Certificate of Completion is provided once the course post exam is passed per criteria above.
